Hi, I’m Matt Miller, founder of The Closeout Buyer LLC. I’ve been in the closeout business since 2013, working on both sides of the table as a buyer and a seller. Over the years, I’ve partnered with more than 800 manufacturers and built personal relationships with nearly every major off-price retailer in North America.

A core part of our model is direct ownership of inventory. We’re not brokers. We own and take possession of all inventory we sell. This approach is expensive and requires real commitment, but it’s central to how we ensure reliability and consistency for our partners on both sides of the transaction.

I take a professional, straightforward approach built on clear communication, urgency, and follow-through. If we haven’t met personally yet, I look forward to connecting. I’ve built my reputation through honesty, follow-through, and long-term relationships, and I work hard to earn that trust on every deal.

Freight Efficiency Starts in Chicago

Location matters in distribution. Warehousing in Chicago allows us to purchase freight-efficiently from vendors across the country, which directly impacts how competitively we can buy inventory.

On the outbound side, Chicago’s central lanes offer reasonable rates to most major markets. Many of our customers already source from other Chicago-area vendors, making it easy to consolidate shipments, fill trucks, and reduce per-unit freight costs.

The result is efficiency on both sides of the transaction: better buying power for us, and simpler, more cost-effective shipping for our customers.
